Dropped Call (Looking Right At You)

i guess this is the new way of handling now
hurtful but i have no control
the sense in it, is definitely not mine
being handled

i could probably get more emotion from a cactus

knowing your thorns are there

regardless of getting stuck by those thorns
a sign of pain
i just try my best to smile
despite the reality of what i said a long time ago
and it is coming to pass
when i just stop showing all that i can
being all i can
trying to be more than
what you'd even expect or even desire
who's gonna pick up what pieces are left
and right now
they're on the verge of finding a broom
then the dustpan
followed by a big bag of disposables
this is not what i saw
and no matter how many contacts or glasses i own
this blueprint is being sent back for revisions

not that your phone was roaming
it's just that the owner chose to ignore that call
and a helluva lot more
at the end of the day, it's a choice and not mine to make
i gotta stop writing
another dropped call just happened
yet i'll try again and again tomorrow
